...on what we do in the present!
A thoughtful start to the blog for August, as time passes quickly. I have an important next step of my life fast approaching, and I thought it would be useful to consider the concept of future and what we may learn from it.
“Just because the past didn't turn out like you wanted it to...doesn't mean your future can't be better than you imagined...”
These are heartening words, as it demonstrates how much we can still have an impact upon our future adventures in life. When we are faced with an important life event, it can be easy for the mind to consider how we have built up to this point in your life in the past, whether we are preparing for it sufficiently in the present, and if we will think about doing anything differently in the future. However, what if we take a moment to consider future itself?
If we take a moment to consider our animals, we realise that they think about the future very positively. Dogs may get excited when they see you putting on your wellies and holding a lead because they anticipate a walk is imminent for them in the future; cats may get similarly excited when they hear a tin or packet of food being opened. Authors and poets talk about wasting away time and our lives when thinking about the future, but in a measured way, considering the future can be very valuable.
Simply put, the future is the time after the past and present, and its arrival is considered inevitable due to the existence of time and the various laws of physics. The future is inevitable, which is why we may think that we can't have any influence on the future.
In the modern day, we are constantly being bombarded with vast amounts of information and news from all around the world, and things are happening and circulating much faster than it has done in the past.
On the one hand, we have the rapid advancement in technology, which has allowed us to witness a range of developments, such as artificial intelligence, innovative energy solutions, space travel, self-driving cars, drones, and much more.
However, on the other hand, we are also experiencing numerous undesired phenomena, such as climate change, political instabilities, corruption, global inequalities, global acts of terror, wars, the spread of diseases, and many more.
At this point, we may wonder, are we going to have a brighter future or a darker one? Answering the question, necessarily requires a comparison with the past.
Thinking about the future can help us make more prudent decisions, motivate us to achieve our goals, and help us to look after each other. Taking the time to compare the past and present leads us to consider the future and we can learn even more about what is yet to come...and perhaps that is a white water experience!
“Do something today that your future self will thank you for”
This is an idea which I wanted to recommend for you to do over the bank holiday weekend. Why not take the time to write a letter to your future self? Or do an activity which you thought about doing as your future self? Or decide what could be your new happy place for your future self?
I am thrilled to have recently tried white water tubing, which was a truly exhilarating and invigorating experience, and one which my future self was definitely grateful for when I took the plunge on a hot and sunny Saturday afternoon.
I hope you enjoy watching the regular watersports content which can be viewed by my personal instagram account as I am delighted to continue sharing content as a Rooster Ambassador for 2022, representing the brand and its ethos to “Inspire, educate and facilitate access to the freedom of being on the water #InYourElement…
I plan to continue enjoying these watersports experiences during the last few days of August, and hope that you are able to find time to partake in the hobbies of your choice. And maybe that is cooking or baking up a storm...
Thank you for all your continued support for the brand instagram account, and I hope you are able to enjoy some delicious food over the bank holiday weekend! These are some of my recent favourite delicacies over the past month, enjoying a tremendous range of sweet and savoury dishes...
As you navigate through your voyage of life, I conclude this month's blog with some rousing words, and hope these provide clarity for your during any uncertain times:
“The past is your lesson. The present is your gift. The future is your motivation.”
I wish you a wonderful and enjoyable remainder of August, and I hope that you are able to consider some of the relevant aspects of this blog for you over the bank holiday weekend!
Love,
Sitara xxx
